Archos phone tablet, we barely knew you

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Aside from a brief press release by Archos last year, this tablet phone gave us quite a tease with it's specs: it was to pack a slimmer 4.3-inch touchscreen than the internet tablets, with a sharper 854×480 resolution, HSDPA, a 1GHz Arm processor, 3.5g enabled, and a thin, 10mm shell. It skipped out on the ball known as CES, and CEO Henri Crohas issued a caveat; that the device would never make it to market without the support of “two senior operators.” Well it seems this event has come to pass. The initial was expected launch in the first ...

iPad Envy? Nah…Grab an Archos Android Tablet instead

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Don't have the money for a new iPad from Apple.  Worry no more , Archos have announced some awesome looking, if not a little under powered Android-based tablet devices for the wallet saving price of $200-$223.  The new tablets will be known as the Archos 7 and Archos 8 Home tablets. The new tablets are sporting 7-inch and 8-inch screens and will be known as the "Home" tablets.  The surprising part about the new devices is the fairly low specified  600MHz ARM 9 processor. The new devices are designed to "bridge the gap" between your Smartphone and your desktop computer. Archos "Home" tablets ...

Dell Mini 5 aiming to be mighty

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

First it was the Haleron, then the Entourage Edge, now the Dell Mini. It's a tablet-stravagana! New information about the Mini 5 tablet/smartphone from Dell has been revealed on Friday thanks to a comprehensive interview. Speaking to Laptop in a Thursday article, Neeraj Choubey, the general manager of tablets in Dell’s Communications Solutions Group, said the company is working with AT&T on offering the Mini 5 to customers. Choubey also revealed users will have access to the Android Market, just like a more conventional Android-powered smarpthone. The tablet is otherwise unique in that it will have a front-facing webcam that will allow for video calling. ...

New ARCHOS Android Tablets coming soon

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

It looks like ARCHOS are keeping on top of their Android obligations and future opportunities: in addition to providing a firmware update to the ARCHOS 5, word out of Germany is that the company will soon launch two new Android Tablets. Carrypad.com heard from the company’s German PR firm who made a statement translating to: Archos will introduce two brand new, good value Android Tablets that are specially designed for use in the home. We already know the ARCHOS 7 is in the works and we’re unsure if this is one of the two, but that answer is probably yes. What is ...

Dell Mini 5 coming to US via AT&T & T-Mobile

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Dell's latest MID known as Dell Mini 5 is expected to available in USA via AT&T and T-Mobile . The Mini 5 is hopefully running Android 2.1 but it's not confirmed. "Dell Mini 5 will run "something newer" than Android 1.6 " said Dell, which hints that it could be Android 2.0 or 2.1. The Dell Mini 5 comes with a 5 inch fast responsive capacitive touchscreen. Compared to a smartphone, the size of Dell Mini 5 prevents it from sliding into your pocket (unless you have huge pockets). Everyone out there is waiting for this tablet to come out. The Dell ...

Move over MAXiPad, here’s a Chrome tablet demo

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010
chrome-tablet-render

Now, I know that Chrome OS is not Android... But! It is Android's bigger brother and could quite possibly be the preferred operating system for tablets that Google offers (being that they said during the Nexus One release event that only phones with Android will be dubbed Android). But either way, a conceptual demo for Chromium OS, the development name for the OS version of Chrome, still under major development, has surfaced. Information was very quietly released on Google's Chromium Dev site on the Monday before the iPad event. Pictures of different screens, as well as the video below, are available for ...

The MSI Android tablet to be released this year for $500

Friday, January 29th, 2010

MSI's 10" tablet, first seen at CES 2010, has a release date for the second half of 2010 for $500. The MSI tablet is packing Nvidia's Tegra SoC and has a beautiful 10 inch display to work with and rival the 9.7" Apple Ipad. With the Tegra Cortex A9 in there, this tablet can easily rival the upcoming Apple Ipad. From what's been said by MSI, they are working with the Android OS to customize it to work well with the 10 inch display and higher resolution then a standard cell phone. This seems like a good tablet to keep your ...

HTC tablet on hold

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Android isn't the only OS that Google has created, but it's the only one HTC is focused on. During CES rumors abounded which suggested HTC and Google would be partnering to produce a tablet device running Google's Chrome OS. The rumored device would have marked a new direction in Google's close relationship with HTC. Three of the major Google Experience Android devices have been HTC handsets so it made sense that if Google wanted to move a tablet device to market that they would look to HTC for the hardware. Today HTC announced that they are stepping back away from devices designed ...
