Custom Desire ROM for Nexus One by MoDaCo Released – Alpha 1

Friday, February 19th, 2010
Android

Android developer MoDaCo has just released his alpha Desire ROM for the Nexus One. This is an ALPHA ROM, not even BETA, so as MoDaCo has advised, you probably won't want to make this your main ROM but it'll give you an idea of what you can look forward to in the future. From the ROM thread on XDA: What is it? As you all know, HTC have announced the 'HTC Desire', which is effectively HTC's version of the Nexus One. It shares a lot of the same hardware, but features cool stuff like HTC Sense and other cool apps (such as a ...

Nexus One Over Clocked and Stable

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Kmobs has modified the Nexus kernel to bump the speeds by 10%. Although a small increase, it shows promising signs of progress. Using Cyanogens 5.0.2 Nexus ROM, and getting the idea from XDA member coolbho3000, the process looks relatively simple. As you can see in the picture, the extra octane takes your N1 to 1113Mhz. I unfortunately am without a Nexus (Still a loyal G1 user), so I cannot vouch for this, but Kmobs claims 100% stability on his Nexus. Remember, your mileage may vary. Download and instructions after the jump. Download here From his page (instructions included): The Nexus One is arguably one of the ...

Run, run as fast as you can…the Droid can’t catch the Nexus One

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

But we're still impressed. He's got a cute name and one speedy lil Droid. Tasmanian_droid, a forum user over at Alldroid, has overclocked his Droid's 550MHz CPU to 1.3GHz. He's reporting it to be 100% stable at 800MHz and is still pushing it further. He's breaking records and recording it all using two different Android apps, BenchmarkPi and Linpack. He recorded the highest scores the Motorola Droid has seen thus far, 2078 in BenchmarkPi and 10.848 Mflops /s in Linpack. While these scores are very impressive, they are still shadowed by scores being reported by Nexus One users running CyanogenMOD v5.0. According ...

The Nexus One Concise Rooting Guide

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

I spent some time gathering info so Im all prepared for when my HTC Nexus One arrives. I've gathered all the info into a single thread in our forums in an attempt to make all your lives easy with a simple to follow guide and links. I've also mirrored any files required. You can view the new thread here. Many thanks to MoDaCo for all their work rooting the Nexus One and to Amon_RA for creating a recovery image we can use.

Unlock the Bootloader on your Nexus One

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010
smile.gif

Paul and his team over at Modaco are just rising stars and keep hacking away at the HTC Nexus One.  If you can even call it hacking.  It's almost like HTC and Google want us to access the device and do what the community does best, Put new custom ROMs on it. So we rooted the Nexus One. Before it was out. Without a device. Neat, but many knowledgeable commentators in the Android community noted that the root was only possible due to the engineering bootloader shipped on the devices distributed by Google, and that retail devices would likely have locked ...
