Nexus One Radio Ruined by Applications ?

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Is your radio broken? The HTC/Google Nexus One is an awesome phone, but it sounds like everyone is still having major radio issues.  I know I frequently have issue's when I'm driving through a certain spot on my way home from work.  I'll frequently drop calls and when I look at my phone,  there will be NO data connection what-so-ever. What is the problem and why is it taking so long for the team of HTC, Google and T-Mobile to work out a solution?  At least they are all admitting that there is a problem and they are working on a solution. We've ...

“Unofficial” Radio Update for G1\MT3G

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

T-Mobile is preparing to push a minor Android update (DMD64) to G1 and MT3G users in the near future (March 15th, according to the official sources). Although not the Eclair 2.1 update everyone has been hoping for, the update will Improve G1 user's call performance only and does not include any additional feature enhancements. The Android 1.6 DMD64 OTA (this OTA is not Android 2.0 Eclair) is being sent to G1 customers only and is not being sent to other Android devices at this time. myTouch 3G users have already received this update and myTouch 3G LE, as well as myTouch ...

T-Mobile Rolling Out Update

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Let me  just start off by saying, this is NOT the update G1 owners have been patiently waiting for. Instead, it’s a minor update exactly like the one the original myTouch 3G received earlier this month. The Android 1.6 update (DMD64) OTA is rolling out starting today, February 26th, and will gradually make it to the masses by March 15th. The update improves G1 user’s call performance and does not include any additional feature enhancements. To receive the update, G1 owners must have the required Android data plan added. G1 owners will receive a notification on ...

Lots of KiNgxKxKlair Eclair Hero 2.1 v1.3 Screen Shots

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

I Fired up this ROM today to take a quick look and initial impressions are pretty good.  I still don't have a SIM on the T-Mobile G1 so a full test is out of the question but it seems pretty responsive and functional. Download the ROM and give it a try for yourself. In the meantime, I've taken plenty of screen shots to help you with you decide whether to install it or not. If you want you want more information about this ROM, you can head over to KingKlicks AndroidSPIN Developer Homepage.

Potential G1 Update Will Need Users Help!

Monday, February 8th, 2010

C0z over at Tmonews has posted a story about T-Mobile doing a software trial for the G1. No, not eclair but just a software update. C0z has stated that the update will include such things as Google Voice integrated in the dialer, setting numbers to be ignored, integration of visual voicemail, and other goodies. T-Mobile is actually looking for people to test this new software on their phones (seems to be only eligible for people with non-rooted G1's). We will keep you guys updated on when your chance to apply for testing arrives. [via Tmonews]

A lil Rogers 911/Sense UI update

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

We received a little update on the Rogers debacle today. Apparently Rogers really, really wants to make sure their customers are aware that they need to apply the "bug fix" and are calling and texting their customers multiple times daily. There have even been reports that outgoing calls are redirected to Rogers customer care. The following are tweets from RogersMary, a community manager on the Social Media team for Rogers and Fido: RogersMary @************* @****** Custs are being directed to Care to ensure they’re aware of fix. This in no way impacts ability to call 911 direct. @******** Not so. Customers are ...

OpenAndroidTeam Releases OpenEclair Beta v1.1.4 and more..

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

It's only been a couple of weeks since Chris Soyar's decided it was time to try and get the community together and work on a community ROM.  The first goal of this team is to create the best Eclair ROM available.  The outcome was OpenEclair and the OpenAndroidTeam and it hasn't stopped since. I'm hoping that I had something to do with this de-fragmentation of the developer communityand I'm working closely with the team to help get organizaed and continue this team spirit into future projects. Be sure to follow the OpenAndroidTeam tweets for the latest release info. Community members are volunteering to ...

MINI REVIEW: HTCCLAY’s FastTest V2.2.7

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

@htcclay is the original builder of SuperD (well the base ROM anyway) and is still close with his cohort @benbuchacher (pronounced boo-cocker :P sorry Ben) who built the new kernel we see in SuperD as well as what Clay is using for his FastTest ROMs. I have to say this is my favorite ROM to date, I have been up and running on it for 2 days now, and am comfortable in it and plan to stay here until he comes out with something newer. It is just as fast as SuperD 1.8 and is mostly aesthetic changes to the UI. ...

Google Maps Now 3.4.0, MT Added for Droid!

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

Droid users have a reason to rejoice! Google has released Google Maps version 3.4.0 into the market with updated pinch to zoom for presumably phones running 2.x+. G1 and MyTouch users can pick up the new version, but have no access to the pinch to zoom and unfortunately still have to rely on hacking to achieve mutlitouch in apps (sorry guys). So get on it Droid users and get some super cool pinch to zoom action on your phones.

Rogers/HTC Sense UI update for Magic users #FAIL

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Rogers. Rogers. Rogers. You poor bastards. Strike one: Rogers Magic and Dream customers wanted the 1.5 OS update. Rogers and HTC said nope. The customers said now and voila!, 1.5. But it came with a warning that the Dream would receive no further updates to it's OS. Rogers offered Dream owners a free upgrade to the Magic and let them know the Magic would eventually see 2.1. Smiles all around. Strike two: With 1.5 came a huge bug that stopped Magic and Dream owners from being able to call 911. Rogers rolled out a mandatory update accompanied by the threat that if ...

Flash Player Is Out For The G1 and MyTouch!

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

The latest "Espresso" ROM seems to be holding Adobe Flash 10.1. After reading an email from "abanoob attia", Abanoob states that with Kings ROM they went to adobe.com and was told the ROM is using Adobe 10.1 According to Abanoob it's a bit laggy, but flash games were playable and flash videos were watchable. With Flash coming this soon, it'll only be a matter of time before a capable piece of equipment such as the Nexus One receives the flash player. Anyone else excited for Mozilla + Flash on their Android phones? Check out XDA for KingKlicks latest Espresso ROM's to ...

Touch Screen Issues on Nexus One and other Android Eclair Devices

Monday, February 1st, 2010

Neither of my Android handsets seem to like it when I touch them. I know I have cold hands but that's no excuse. I have both a G1 and a Nexus One. The G1 is currently running a custom 2.0 ROM and the Nexus One is still stock 2.1. Intermittently, when I touch the screen on my G1, it will register the touch on a completely different area of the screen. The same goes for my Nexus One. While using the virtual keyboard on the Nexus One, if any other part of my hand besides the finger I am using to ...
